KS2/3 SCIENCE : From Farm to Plate - MONDAYS 10-12 or 1-3pm June 10/17/24/ and July 1/8 This 5 week course explores Food, Farming and Landscape in the South Downs National Park.
Over the 5 weeks, the children will be incubating and hatching chicken eggs, handling and caring for chicks, planting and harvesting crops in the polytunnel, and making bread from farm grown wheat.
The course links to National Curriculum KS2/3 science for 9-13 year olds. It is held in our classroom on our farm near Colden Common (through which the boundary of the South Downs National Park runs). It will focus on experimental skills and working scientifically, eg. children will be using microscopes, camera traps, exploring photosynthesis, plant reproduction, ecosystems and biodiversity. Classes include as many movement breaks as your child needs.

Each week there is a total of 3 hours comprising 2 hour workshops in our farm classroom (parents stay) and 1 hour online learning with an account on my3ml.org (if required and appropriate).
There will be social opportunities building community in our farm classroom. Farm walks in our open spaces are encouraged. Children can work independently or with 1:1 support from a parent. Your children’s safety and learning, remain your responsibility at all times whilst on our working farm
